Albert left the club a few years ago when he felt he could no longer manage to fish, I personally carried on enjoying his company, usually in the Lower Angel pub. He then stopped his pub visits 2 or 3 years ago.
Albert was, as far as I know, a Founder Member of the club. I wouldn't say he was a natural fisherman but he had a strange knack of winning the odd match. A lone 13 lb Barbel on the Teme or the time he won a match on the Ulverston Canal. The latter was more surprising as he spent the whole match on the coach hiding from the weather and only got off when he spotted his swing-tip rising.
He was a stalwart of the clubs visits to Ireland especially when they stayed in The Grand Hotel in Fermoy.
He was also a follower of Warrington Wolves R.L and made several journeys down to Wembley when "The Wire" got there.
May I pass on condolences on behalf of the club to Alberts family & friends. He will be missed.
