Early we were denied our regular end of river season match on the Weaver due to flooding.
In March we learned of the death of long standing member Harold Daniels.
Throughout early 2020 a new word entered the vocabulary. Covid-19 . It struck with a vengeance in late March with the Government instigating a country wide lock down which shut down our fishy activities.
With fisheries forced to close, HQ not available to us the club activities came to a halt.
Behind the scenes the Angling Trust and other fishing related entities implored the government to allow fishing again. They were successful just in time for the new river season opening in June.
The club were active again as we started to hold matches on our Rixton, Mersey venue. We also were able to include a few commercials in our itinerary.
Sadly we still have not been able to have meetings at HQ, The Cheshire Cheese, and for the first time in the club history we have not been able to have an AGM.
So we arrive at today. Things are not out of the woods by any means but with the arrival of vaccines maybe there just is a light at the end of the tunnel.
We will assess our situation come January, Howard has the new cards for 2021. The current committee will carry on in situ until we can have a formal vote.
Wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas and best wishes for 2021.
