From a club standpoint not a lot changes. Pubs are still shut so we don’t have a venue for meetings. Social gatherings are still banned so we could not meet anyway. Matches are classed as a social gathering so cannot be fished. This means that our upcoming match at Dunham Fishery, due Sunday 17th, will not take place. (confirmed on their website). The club water, being a river, will be closed until the usual 16th June starting date. When it does reopen you will notice some improvement to pegging. Dave Williams has relieved his lockdown boredom by rebuilding pegs 3 & 11, with help from son Paul, and done strimming on all the others. Our thanks go to them both.
Individually I am sure some of you will be champing at the bit to get out and watch a float go under. I wish you well but you may find it difficult to arm yourselves with bait as tackle shops remain under sanction. Maybe we will see a resurgence of long lost baits such as “Cheesepaste”. Sweetcorn, luncheon meat and bread are easily procured. Someone may come out of this with a new secret wonder bait.
Anyhow, whether you decide to wet a line or not, personally I am waiting for the glorious 16th, stay safe and if you catch owt let us know.
