We drew with an overcast sky and a blustery upstream wind but as soon as we started fishing the clouds cleared and bright sunlight ensued. The river was very slow at the start but nearly stopped completely mid match as the sluices were used to combat the high tide. Fish were topping but were very reluctant to feed in the slow water.
I opted to float fish and started on a Cralusso 4g "Bolo" float. This turned out to be completely the wrong choice in the slow water. I chopped and changed and eventually got it right. At the end of the match I had six roach and weighed in 1lb 8oz. I was shocked to find that nobody else had a fish. They had all suffered finicky bites that they could not connect with.
A match to ponder over but with all the pool money in my pocket I retired to HQ for a few scoops.
