During this time the club have had mixed results on the Mersey, a match at Greenwood on The Lagoon match pool and a coach trip to Shrewsbury to fish the River Severn. Sadly I missed all of them.
The Mersey is again a mystery this year with odd good catches but not very good match returns.
On Greenwood
Keith Atkinson 16 lbs
Jamie Allen 12 lbs
Pete Mac 10 lbs
On the Severn, County Ground
Keith Kerwen 12 lbs mixed catch
Dave Williams 5 lb 10 oz, Dave lost several good eels and would have run Keith closer if he had landed them
Keith Atkinson 2 lb 10 oz
Pete Mac 2 lb 4 oz
The stretch turned out to be virtually two separate venues with shallows up stream and very deep down near the coach park. The weights came from the shallows mainly. Good news though that the members would consider a return to this venue. We took “guests” on this trip who spent the day around Shrewsbury and they all seemed happy with the day.
Coming up we have the River Weaver, Red Lion, Barnton (CW8 4EL) on Saturday 1st September. The car park is opposite the old Red Lion pub which is now an Antique Shop. Last Sundays match on here was 26 lb, 20 lb, 16 lb & 12 lb. Top 2 weights mainly skimmers on the feeder, the other two were roach on the pole. Draw as usual is 08:00 am at the venue.
On the 9th September, Sunday, we have another match at Greenwood, this time on the main pool. Again 08:00 am at the venue.
That’s all the info for now. Hopefully I will be fishing the Weaver match.
