We fished on the Weaver at Winsford before the end of the river season and it was icy cold. With the river running through and highly coloured the Winsford Match Sec (Steve Flood) allowed us to pick another stretch. We settled on the Aerosol length but although sunny an icy upstream wind kept weights low.
1st Keith Kirwen 4 lb 11 oz
2nd Paul Williams 1 lb 5 oz
I think everyone caught but did not bother weighing.
Our second match of the year was on the Lagoon at Greenwood Fishery. “H” had bumped into Julian the owner who passed on news that it was fishing well, especially in the exceptionally mild weather we had been having. Come match day and it was back to winter, c’est la vie.
1st Keith Kirwen 12 lb 0 oz
2nd Mark Holden 11 lb 6 oz
3rd Paul Williams 6 lb 1 oz
Again all who fished did catch but mainly silvers.
After the match the members expressed displeasure that the next match was not until May and so at the April meeting it was voted to add another venue to the list.
In lieu of this I have booked the following
Limbrick Fishery
Long Lane, Heath Charnock, Chorley, PR6 9EF, Lancashire
It is a doughnut shaped pool with a central island and holds the usual species including Carp and F1’s.
Usual time is 08:00 am at the venue but there is a butty van on site for breakfast so we can have a leisurely build up to the all-in.
I hope to see as many of you there as are able.
