Dave Williams, with help from son Paul, has been very active during the lockdown/close season.
He has renovated pegs 3 & 11 to a high standard, even adding artificial grass.
He removed a long length of plastic pipe that was trailing along 2 or 3 of the middle pegs. This made feeder fishing these pegs difficult as one end of the pipe was buoyant and it was moving about in the current. On removal it was so long he had to saw it into shorter lengths for disposal.
Dave has trimmed all the pegs, this may need repeating before the off.
So, many thanks to Dave and Paul for this effort.
The farmer has cut the grass in the field.
Ste Bate went on a dog walk along the stretch and informs me that the path in the trees has again partly subsided into the river. Although not usually fished much we do have pegs in the trees so be wary if you venture along it. Long term the Farmer/Peel Holdings/Warrington Council will need to look at this as it is a public right of way.
On the club front not much is happening. Pubs are still shut so no meetings at the Cheese. We are actively rearranging matches with some rebooked for next year. “H” had to be quick doing this as all clubs are in the same boat. We hope to be running Mersey matches using the Angling Trust guidelines. Website Angling Trust
When we know more we will let you know which matches are still viable this year. I would think the Red Lion at Barnton is OK for September 5th but the proposed coach trip to the River Severn at Shrewsbury does not look feasible.
All in it looks like light at the end of the tunnel but to you all I say “Stay safe and don’t take chances”. I hope to see you on the bank come the 16th.
